The role requires collaboration with area directors, tribal partners, and health staff; requires medical licensure and experience in clinical leadership, policy, and program management.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted medical license.
• Graduate training: at least 1 year of supervised clinical experience (internship/residency) in an accredited program.
• Education: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from an accredited school in the US or Canada.
• Board certification in the specialty is preferred but not required.
• U.S. Citizenship and selective service requirements apply.

Responsibilities

• Provides executive leadership and collaborates on strategic planning, policy development, and implementation of Area health programs.
• Coordinates public health planning and activities across units with Public Health Directors and Tribal partners.
• Leads planning, monitoring, and evaluation of public health services to improve outcomes.
• Serves as a technical/clinical consultant to IHS programs and community groups on health issues.
• Supervises Division staff and oversees field offices, including clinical duties as needed.
