Job summary

Indian Health Service in Alaska seeks an executive physician leader to guide the Area Division of Public Health, shaping strategy, program development, and evaluation to improve health outcomes for American Indian and Alaska Native communities. You will coordinate across units, provide clinical and policy leadership, and work with tribal partners to strengthen health systems.

Must hold an MD/DO with US licensure; board certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from US/Canada with appropriate accreditation
• License to practice medicine in the United States
• Board certification preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership and collaborate on strategic planning and policy development
• Coordinate public health planning across Service Units with Tribal partners
• Lead planning, monitoring, and evaluation of public health services for quality outcomes
• Serve as a technical/clinical consultant on health issues affecting the Area population
• Supervise Division staff and oversee field offices providing medical care
