Job summary

Indian Health Service in Aberdeen, SD, seeks an experienced physician-leader to head the Area Indian Health Service Division of Public Health. You will guide strategic planning, policy development, and implementation of public health programs to improve outcomes for American Indian and Alaska Native communities.

The role includes supervision of division staff, collaboration with Tribal partners, and serving as a clinical consultant across IHS programs and regional health systems.

Qualifications

• MD/DO required and U.S. or Canadian accreditation
• Active medical license in the U.S. or territory
• Graduate medical training (internship/residency) required

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership and strategic planning for Area health programs
• Coordinate public health planning across Service Units with Tribal partners
• Oversee evaluation of public health services to improve outcomes
• Serve as clinical consultant to IHS programs and communities
• Supervise division staff and oversee field offices
