Job summary

The Saugerties Public Library is seeking a Library Director to serve as executive and administrative officer, leading all aspects of library operations and reporting to the Board. The role includes budget development, personnel management, grants, facilities, and community outreach.

Ideal candidates will have a MLS and NYS Public Librarian certification, with at least two years of professional library experience, and strong interpersonal communication abilities.

Qualifications

• MLS required with NYS librarian certificate.
• 2+ years of professional library experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plans and directs library programs for all ages.
• Manages the library budget with Finance Committee.
• Prepares materials for board/committee meetings.
• Maintains records for library finances, HR, and operations.
• Oversees IT, automation systems, and facilities maintenance.
• Administers grants and manages library revenues and expenditures.
• Recommends new services and policies to the Board of Trustees.
• Supervises staff and conducts performance evaluations.
• Prepares state and local statistical reports as needed.
• Develops and maintains local history collections.
• Creates reports using the library's ILS and systems.
• Represents the library to government agencies and community groups.
