The Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) in Colorado seeks an Executive Director to lead the department as a Cabinet-level CEO, driving customer-focused innovation and value delivery across all services and programs. The role guides budgeting, policy development, and cross-department initiatives with the Governor’s office and stakeholders.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years of executive leadership, strong budgeting experience, and a track record of building high-performing teams within state

Qualifications

• Five+ years of executive-level leadership with strategic planning responsibilities.
• Experience in budget and financial management and resource planning.
• Operational management and process improvement experience.
• Stakeholder and public relations experience at senior levels.
• Experience in planning, execution, and evaluation of special projects.
• Day-to-day program and service delivery leadership.

Responsibilities

• Ensure long-range vision and strategy for DOLA that aligns with mission.
• Lead Cabinet-level development and implementation of policies across DOLA.
• Build relationships with localities and advocacy groups.
• Represent Colorado to local governments and housing partners.
• Provide leadership in budgeting, purchasing, and planning for divisions.
• Direct and oversee department operations and ensure legal compliance.
