Job summary

Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment seeks an experienced senior leader to oversee disease surveillance, control, and epidemiology for two major work units. You will drive strategic direction, evaluate programs, and ensure fiscal and operational excellence in public health initiatives.

You will work closely with the department's Executive Director, CM0, and partners to strengthen emergency preparedness and health equity while aligning with state priorities and federal

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology or a closely related field combined with at least 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience directing a large organization and supervising staff at an executive level in a public health setting.
• Demonstrated experience producing improved health outcomes on a population level.
• Demonstrated political acumen working as an executive leader.

Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership for two large work units within the Division of Disease Control and Public Health Protection.
• Oversee disease surveillance, disease control, epidemiology, and program evaluation to improve population health.
• Partner with the department's Executive Director, Chief Medical Officer, and Office of Emergency Preparedness to ensure strategic alignment and readiness.
• Ensure compliance with federal funding requirements and internal policies; manage talent acquisition for program excellence.
• Collaborate with community partners, local governments, and federal agencies to advance public health goals.
