Job summary

SMBC Group is seeking a Java Engineering Lead, Executive Director, Capital Markets Technology in New York. You will provide strategic leadership for multiple engineering teams delivering mission-critical platforms for Front Office and enterprise Capital Markets functions.

You will drive event-driven microservices, real-time data processing, and scalable architectures, partnering with senior technology leadership to set standards and modernization roadmaps.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with Java-based development and distributed systems.
• 10+ years in financial services, preferably supporting Capital Markets, Trading, Risk or Regulatory technology.
• 8+ years of progressive leadership experience managing engineering teams and delivery programs.
• Proven track record delivering large-scale distributed systems for mission-critical business functions.
• Experience building high-performance, low-latency platforms with stringent uptime requirements.
• Strong executive presence with ability to influence senior business and technology stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple engineering teams responsible for design, development, and delivery of platform capabilities across Capital Markets Technology.
• Drive development of scalable Java microservices, APIs, Kafka producers/consumers, and real-time processing solutions.
• Establish roadmaps for modernization, scalability, resiliency, and operational excellence across distributed systems.
• Ensure high availability, low latency, fault tolerance, and enterprise-scale performance.
