Job summary

SMBC is seeking a Java Engineering Lead, Executive Director, Capital Markets Technology, to provide strategic leadership across multiple engineering teams responsible for mission-critical platforms supporting Front Office and enterprise Capital Markets functions.

You will drive the development of scalable Java-based microservices, real-time processing, and event-driven architectures, while guiding modernization and cloud adoption to achieve high availability and low latency in complex trading

Qualifications

• 15+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a strong emphasis on Java-based application development and distributed systems architecture.
• 10+ years in financial services, preferably Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Trading, Risk Management, or related areas.
• 8+ years of progressive leadership experience managing engineering teams and complex technology delivery programs.
• Proven track record delivering large-scale, low-latency distributed systems for mission-critical business functions.
• Deep understanding of electronic trading systems, market connectivity, and real-time data processing.
• Experience leading cloud adoption, platform modernization, and architectural governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple engineering teams responsible for designing, developing, and supporting mission-critical platform capabilities across Capital Markets Technology.
• Drive development of highly scalable Java-based microservices, APIs, Kafka producers/consumers, and real-time data processing solutions.
• Establish roadmaps for modernization, scalability, resiliency, and operational excellence in distributed systems.
• Ensure platform capabilities meet high availability, low latency, fault tolerance, and enterprise-scale performance requirements.
• Define and implement enterprise-scale event-driven architecture patterns like CQRS, Event Sourcing, and Outbox.
