Job summary

Court of Administrative Hearings in Minnesota seeks a General Counsel to lead the Office of General Counsel, providing strategic, executive-level legal guidance and supervising a team of in-house attorneys. The role supports the court’s judicial functions and public accountability.

The General Counsel will manage litigation, ethics, data practices compliance, and interactions with state government and external stakeholders, shaping policy, rules, and legislation.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive-level advice and litigation management for the court
• Serve as the court’s Ethics Officer
• Serve as (or supervise) the Data Practices Compliance Official
• Act as a liaison to the Legislature, Governor’s Office, Executive Branch agencies, and other external stakeholders
• Provide legal analysis across a wide range of specialized, complex areas
• Advise on court policies, procedures, and data practices compliance and requests
• Guide the development and review of proposed legislation and administrative rules
