Job summary

The City of Deerfield Beach seeks an executive Fire Rescue leader to oversee emergency service delivery, EMS, training, logistics, and special operations. You will guide planning, staffing, and performance evaluation to ensure safe, effective service delivery.

You will supervise personnel, coordinate with unions and city officials, and assume command during major incidents when required. A Bachelor’s degree and Florida certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in fire science, business administration, public administration, or a related field.
• At least two (2) years of fire service management experience at the Battalion Chief level or higher.
• Current State of Florida Firefighter Certification.
• Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Paramedic certification.
• Must possess and maintain an American Heart Association ACLS card.
• Must possess and maintain an American Heart Association BLS – CPR & AED card.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License or ability to obtain one within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, supervises, and participates in emergency service delivery, training, logistics, and related Fire Rescue functions.
• Manages daily activities involving EMS, communications, special operations, and Fire Rescue operations; ensures staffing and readiness.
• Analyzes operational data and performance measures, and prepares reports.
• Evaluates department operations and recommends changes to improve safety and efficiency.
• Assumes command of Fire Rescue activities during emergencies when required.
