Job summary

Gfoat seeks a Fire Chief to lead the planning, direction, and coordination of all fire suppression and EMS activities for the city. You will supervise career and part-time personnel, manage the department's budget, facilities, and equipment, and develop policy recommendations for the City Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in fire-related field.
• Minimum 10 years of fire service experience; at least 5 in a command-level position.
• TCFP certification or eligibility for certification; Head of Department - Suppression desirable.
• Paramedic preferred; EMT certification required at minimum.
• Valid Texas driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate all fire suppression and EMS activities.
• Develop goals, objectives, and performance measures for the department.
• Prepare and administer annual operating and capital budgets.
• Represent the department before City Council and the public.
• Oversee EMS operations, billing, and related contracts.
• Maintain relationships with EMS Medical Director and comply with protocols.
• Lead training programs and succession planning.
• Coordinate with other fire departments and mutual aid partners.
