Job summary

The City of Deerfield Beach seeks an executive-level leader to oversee Fire Rescue operations, EMS, training, logistics, and special operations, directing programs and personnel to deliver safe, efficient service. The role requires strategic planning, incident command, and partnership with city leadership.

Under the Fire Chief, you will analyze performance data, drive improvements, manage labor relations, and ensure compliance with state certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in fire science, business administration, public administration, or a related field.
• At least two years of fire service management experience at Battalion Chief level or higher.
• Current Florida Firefighter Certification.
• Paramedic certification (Florida) required.
• CPR/ACLS/AED certifications must be valid.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, supervises, and participates in emergency service delivery, training, logistics, and related Fire Rescue functions.
• Manages daily activities involving communications, EMS, and Fire Rescue operations; ensures staffing and readiness.
• Analyzes operational data, response times, call volumes, and benchmarks; prepares reports.
• Evaluates department operations and implements improvements to safety and efficiency.
• Assumes command of Fire Rescue activities at incidents as required.
• Participates in recruitment and personnel actions per city policies.
• Oversees maintenance and readiness of stations, apparatus, and equipment.
• Other duties may be assigned.
