Job summary

American Electric Power seeks a senior leader to drive the Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) strategy across the organization. You will provide direction, oversee programs, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, permitting requirements, and corporate policies to protect employees and operations.

Responsibilities include policy development, audits, regulatory reporting, and workforce training, with engagement of external stakeholders and industry groups to advance safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in physical or biological science, engineering, or related field.
• Eight or more years of ES&H experience, with interpretation of OSHA, EPA, and permitting requirements.
• Strong understanding of environmental regulations including protected species, land use, wetlands, water withdrawal and discharge, and air quality rules.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee environmental, safety, and health programs, compliance initiatives, and management systems.
• Develop and communicate policies, procedures, standards, and program enhancements for compliance with regulations.
• Provide strategic guidance on environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, safety performance, and risk management.
• Direct audits, inspections, investigations, assessments, and corrective actions to improve performance.
