Zurich North America seeks an Executive Underwriter or AVP, Underwriter Director for Environmental Casualty. The role combines high-level underwriting with leadership across the Western region, focusing on complex domestic accounts and working with select brokers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; extensive underwriting experience accepted in lieu of degree.
• Experience with Environmental Casualty underwriting and familiarity with regulatory rules.
• Strong relationship management with distributors (agents & brokers).
• Proven ability to lead and mentor junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Administer and monitor underwriting rules, guidelines, and rating rules.
• Collaborate with Line of Business on referrals and client needs.
• Provide guidance to lower-level associates as needed.
• Develop and maintain broker/distributor relationships to support retention and growth.
• Be a point of contact for agents, brokers, and customers to support sales culture.
• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
• Complete opportunity assessments with distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Qualify accounts to fit appetite and business potential.
• Make broker/customer calls with a clear objective.
