Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks a Deputy Superintendent to oversee day-to-day district operations and provide leadership to department heads across Student Services, Athletics, Title IX, Wellness, and more. The role acts as equivalent to the superintendent in their absence and serves on the Superintendent's Executive Cabinet.

The position requires high-level supervisory work, strategic planning, budgeting, and strong policy interpretation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education required
• Doctorate in School Administration or related area preferred
• NC Certification (Principal or Superintendent) preferred
• Minimum seven years' experience as building or district administrator preferred
• Equivalent combination of experience and education

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
• Lead, manage, supervise, and evaluate assigned programs/staff in the district
• Establish and implement budgeting and fiscal management systems
• Manage data collection and reporting; investigate issues and write reports
• Develop goals and long-range plans and implement programs and services
• Communicate with parents and community; conduct presentations and classes for adults
• Oversee district-wide day-to-day operations
• Coordinate budgets for assigned areas per policies
• Serve as superintendent's designee on student hearings and appeals
• Attend Board of Education meetings as needed
• Facilitate department improvement plans
• Perform related work as required
