Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks a Chief Operations Officer to lead day-to-day district operations with broad oversight of construction management, facilities, maintenance, transportation, nutrition, custodial services, logistics, safety and risk management. This executive reports to the Superintendent and serves on the Superintendent's Executive Cabinet.

The role requires a Bachelor's in education, a Master's preferred, NC certification preferred, and at least five years as a district

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in education is required.
Master's degree in School Administration is preferred.
NC Certification (Principal or Superintendent) preferred.
Minimum of five years' experience as building or district administrator preferred.
Equivalent combination of experience and education.

Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day operations of the school district with broad oversight across multiple departments.
Supervise, manage, and evaluate assigned departments and staff.
Develop and implement budgeting and fiscal management systems.
Advise the superintendent and board on operations matters.
Oversee safety, CMS Police, and emergency response; ensure compliance.
