Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks a Deputy Superintendent to provide senior leadership with broad discretion to oversee day-to-day operations and serve as acting superintendent in the absence of the district leader.

The role includes guiding department heads across Student Services, Athletics, Title IX, Wellness, Behavior Support, and the CMS Police; serving on the Superintendent's Executive Cabinet and reporting to the Superintendent.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education is required.
• Doctorate in School Administration or related area preferred.
• NC Certification (Principal or Superintendent) preferred.
• Minimum of seven years' experience as building or district administrator preferred.
• Equivalent combination of experience and education.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
• Lead, manage, supervise, and evaluate district programs and staff.
• Establish and implement budgeting and fiscal management systems.
• Manage the collection and completion of required data; investigate issues and write reports.
• Direct and lead development of goals, short and long-range plans, and programs.
• Remain visible in schools and communities; communicate with parents and public.
