Job summary

The California Club in Downtown Los Angeles seeks a seasoned General Manager to provide strategic leadership, preserve the club’s traditions, and align operations with the Board’s long-term vision.

You will oversee dining, events, facilities, and member experiences, build budgets, guide capital improvements, and cultivate a high-performing management team while maintaining the club’s warm, exclusive atmosphere.

Qualifications

• No less than a decade of progressively advancing senior leadership roles in club service or broader hospitality management, ideally culminating in a General Manager role at a respected private club, hotel, or resort with a comparable scale and culture.
• Strong track record of achievement and employment stability.
• Experience in building budgets and managing business from financial metrics, expense processing, and course-correcting to meet financial goals.
• Proven ability to recruit, train, and motivate a high-performing, service-oriented staff.
• Strong food & beverage knowledge, including fine dining and wine, with experience shaping dining programming for members.
• Knowledge of club-related technologies to improve efficiency and member experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and governance alignment with the Board.
• Cultivate meaningful member relationships and deliver exceptional experiences across dining, events, and accommodations.
• Inspire and empower a high-performing management team and foster a culture of accountability and service excellence.
• Oversee business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and capital investments.
• Guide capital improvements, preserve historic facilities, and ensure long-term financial stewardship.
