Job summary

The South Dakota Department of Corrections is seeking a Director of Prison Operations in Pierre or Sioux Falls. This full-time, 40-hour weekly role oversees executive leadership, strategic planning and operations for the Prison Operations Division.

Salary ranges from $99,305.28 to $134,000.00 annually, with responsibilities including staff training oversight, offender services, security technology and emergency management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
• Significant leadership experience in a warden, deputy director or director position leading a correctional system or facility.
• Experience managing large-scale budgets and multidisciplinary teams utilizing evidence-based best practices for the safe and secure management of adult inmates in a correctional setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership, strategic planning and oversight for the Department's Prison Operations Division.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based best practices for correctional facility management.
• Oversee staff training, offender services, security technology and correctional emergency management.
• Collaborate with state/federal agencies and law enforcement to ensure compliance with laws and orders.
