Job summary

State of South Dakota is seeking a Director of Prison Operations to provide executive leadership, strategic planning, and oversight for the Prison Operations Division. The role requires developing and evaluating evidence-based practices for safe and secure management of correctional facilities and inmate populations.

The ideal candidate will have significant leadership experience in a senior correctional role, experience managing large budgets, and a proven ability to implement statewide

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field is required.
• Experience leading a correctional system or facility at warden, deputy director, or director level.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership and strategic planning for Prison Operations.
• Oversee staff training, offender services, security technology and corrective emergency management.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws and inter-agency coordination; report to the Deputy Secretary of Corrections.
