Job summary

Merck is seeking an Executive Director of Medical Affairs, Payer & Health Systems Oncology, to lead US payer strategy and field medical execution within the Value & Implementation organization. This role drives strategic plans, cross-functional leadership, and external collaboration to advance oncology priorities across CMAP and USMA portfolios.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree required with ability to lead scientific/medical colleagues across skill levels.
• Extensive pharma payer or oncology-related experience (7+ years).
• 5+ years of frontline field medical leadership in pharma or payer industries.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for US payer & access priorities within PHS and CMAP goals.
• Oversee Field Medical teams, budgets, and cross-functional partnerships.
• Align scientific platform development with payer insights and strategic plans.
• Ensure compliant, ethical operations from strategy to execution.
• Lead risk management and external partnerships to advance oncology priorities.
• Travel up to 50% to support field activities and leadership coverage.
