Job summary

Merck is seeking the US Executive Director of Medical Affairs, Payer & Health Systems Oncology to lead strategic payer medical priorities and guide field medical strategies. The role oversees the USMA PHS program and collaborates with payor insights to influence CMAP and Global Plans.

Candidates should bring doctoral- level credentials, oncology experience, and proven leadership in complex, matrixed environments, with the ability to travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree required with ability to lead scientific/medical colleagues at multiple levels.
• Proven leadership in pharma/payor, preferably oncology.
• Experience designing and implementing strategic medical affairs solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead USMA PHS strategy and field medical MAD team performance.
• Oversee US Payor & Access Teams alignment with CMAP and V&I plans.
• Incorporate external payor insights into strategic medical platforms.
• Mentor and develop PHS MAD field leaders and PASLs.
• Build and manage annual PHS Oncology budget and approve program expenses.
• Ensure compliant operations from strategy to execution in oncology portfolio.
• Foster cross-functional collaboration across USMA TA teams and payer domains.
