Texas A&M University is seeking an Executive Director of Global Programs & Education Abroad in College Station, TX. This senior leader will guide Education Abroad, Global Programs, Risk Management & Compliance and help shape international education across the university.

The role focuses on faculty engagement, program development, and advancing the university’s internationalization goals through strategic initiatives and partnerships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Ten years of progressively responsible experience in higher education, including at least five years in international higher education leadership.
• Preferred terminal degree or progress toward terminal degree in higher education or related field.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a key member of the Global Engagement leadership team and deputy to the AVP.
• Develop and implement innovative global programs aligned with institutional priorities.
• Drive strategic planning, risk management, and assessment of international initiatives.
• Lead special projects to advance strategic priorities and opportunities.

What We Want

The Department of Global Engagement is seeking an experienced and visionary leader to serve as Executive Director of Global Programs & Education Abroad, a senior leadership position within Global Engagement. This position provides strategic and operational leadership for Education Abroad, Global Programs, Risk Management & Compliance and will help shape the next generation of global programs and learning opportunities at the university.

The Executive Director will lead faculty engagement and development, oversee special projects, and advance innovative initiatives. Working collaboratively with institutional leadership and the Associate Vice President & Senior International Officer, this position will be instrumental in advancing the university’s internationalization goals and translating Global Engagement’s strategic priorities into meaningful programs and opportunities. We are looking for a collaborative, strategic, and innovative leader who is excited to help shape the future of global engagement.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Ten years of progressively responsible experience in higher education, including at least five years of direct leadership experience in international higher education roles.

Preferred Qualifications

• Terminal degree or work towards terminal degree or equivalent in higher education, international education, or related field.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Serves as a key member of the Global Engagement leadership team, acting as deputy to the Associate Vice President.
• Guides the development and implementation of innovative global programs aligned with institutional priorities.
• Supports strategic planning and ensures measurable progress toward internationalization goals.
• Directs and executes special projects as assigned by the Associate Vice President to advance strategic priorities and respond to emerging opportunities.
• Represents Global Engagement on University committees and task forces.
• Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to expand funding opportunities and partnerships.
• Works closely with College/School leadership teams, the International Advisory Board, and key centers (Soltis Center, Mexico Partnership) to identify and advance global priorities.
• Fosters collaboration across academic units to identify and realize international goals.

Education Abroad & Program Development

• Creates a vision and strategic plan for Education Abroad.
• Oversees Education Abroad operations, including program design, instructional integration, and student support for before, during, and after experiences.
• Develops and implements assessment measures for global programs and executes improvement plans based on findings.
• Uses data-driven assessment and outcome analysis to lead design of Education Abroad operations and programs.

Faculty Collaboration & Engagement

• Develops and oversees new initiatives such as COIL, micro-credentialing, and scholarship programs.
• Spearheads faculty engagement in global programs.
• Manages grant programs supporting global engagement initiatives.
• Directs and ensures the execution of special projects to advance strategic priorities and respond to emerging opportunities.
• Promotes intercultural and cross-cultural programming for students, faculty, and staff.

Risk Management & Compliance

• Ensures compliance with University, state, and federal regulations for international programs.
• Oversees risk management strategies for Global Engagement, including student safety and program integrity.
