Job summary

YMCA of Columbia seeks an experienced, community-focused Executive Director to lead the Northwest YMCA and Ballentine YMCA, driving youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in two thriving branches.

You will build strong teams, foster community partnerships, grow membership and programs, and lead fundraising efforts while advancing the Y's mission through volunteer engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human services, business, social services, or equivalent.
• Five or more years of professional experience in the YMCA or another nonprofit preferred.
• Proven track record in annual fundraising campaigns, donor cultivation, board development, and community engagement.
• Knowledge and experience in all aspects of operations, including staff supervision and development, successful membership practices, quality program development and implementation, volunteerism, facility and property management, and sound financial practices.
• Understanding of the mission and cause of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community; track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with community leaders and stakeholders.
• Ability to handle multiple demands and priorities and achieve organizational objectives.
• YMCA Multi-Team Leader certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs two branches ensuring successful operation and financial performance.
• Models relationship-building with staff, volunteers, members, partners, and civic leaders.
• Leads annual fundraising campaigns across both branches and donor stewardship.
• Builds collaborative relationships with local schools, civic organizations, and sponsors.
• Oversees facility development, maintenance, and safety objectives.
• Coordinates branch advisory boards and committees to support campaigns.
• Directs volunteer program across both branches and staff supervision.
• Manages operating budgets and strives to meet targets.
• Drives program expansion, member recruitment and retention, and pricing strategies.
• Participates in major capital initiatives and ensures staff training and supervision.
• Identifies new program opportunities aligned with YMCA goals and engages staff.
