Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health in Charlestown, MA seeks an Executive Director of AI Engineering and EHR Systems to lead enterprise AI platforms (ML, gen AI, analytics) and ensure secure, scalable deployment across Epic EHR backend systems and integration engines.

Lead a high-performing team, govern AI initiatives, collaborate with clinical, digital health, software engineering, and data teams, and drive adoption while ensuring regulatory compliance and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 15+ years of related work experience with 8–10 years in supervisory/management roles.
• Proven experience leading enterprise AI and ML initiatives, including generative AI and advanced analytics.
• Experience managing Epic EHR backend systems and InterSystems HealthConnect or equivalent integration engines.
• Strong understanding of clinical workflows, regulatory requirements, data governance, and patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, deployment, and operation of enterprise AI platforms and analytics use cases.
• Establish scalable AI infrastructure, development frameworks, APIs and reusable services.
• Define AI engineering standards, architectural guidelines, and governance for security, reliability and maintainability.
• Oversee incident management, root cause analysis and continuous improvement for AI platforms.
• Manage relationships with vendors, cloud providers, and key stakeholders; drive adoption and ROI.
