Job summary

JPMorganChase seeks a data executive to shape our ontology strategy and enable data interoperability for AI and product development. The role sits within the Firmwide Chief Data Office and will drive firmwide ontology publishing and adoption across Data & Analytics, Product, and Tech.

The Executive Director-Ontologist will lead ontology engineering, mentor a team of ontologists, and collaborate with senior stakeholders to align with strategic objectives and data governance standards.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience developing and managing ontologies for real-world applications.
Expertise in Data and Financial service standards such as ISO 20022, OWL, RDF, SKOS, and SHACL.
Experience with ontology and taxonomy development process and tools (e.g., Protégé, TopBraid Composer, PoolParty).
Excellent written communication and ability to convey complex concepts to senior audiences.

Responsibilities

Development and adoption of ontologies to represent complex domains.
Evaluate industry standard ontologies for adoption across JPMC.
Collaborate with stakeholders, domain experts, product owners, and engineers to understand use cases and requirements.
Provide expert input into the firmwide data strategy.
Communicate complex ideas clearly using precise terminology and relatable examples, and ask clarifying questions.
Mentor fellow ontologists to ensure alignment with best practices and strategic initiatives.
Stay abreast of trends in ontology engineering and semantic technologies.
Balance timeliness with quality under deadlines, managing multiple priorities.
