Job summary

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for the Executive Director of Emergency Management and Planning. Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of progressively responsible emergency management experience with supervisory responsibilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of emergency management principles, planning, and coordination across departments and agencies.
  • Must reside within 30 miles of UNC Chapel Hill or be able to meet this requirement within six months.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record at time of hire.
  • FEMA/HSEEP or related training desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Emergency Planning and Strategy: develop and coordinate the University Emergency Plan and maintain an all-hazards plan.
  • Campus Liaison and Outreach: brief University leadership and coordinate with FEMA and local officials.
  • Training and Compliance: create training for administrators on disaster responsibilities.
  • Systems Oversight: oversee emergency communications and the campus EOC.
  • Emergency Operations: maintain readiness of equipment and response capabilities.
