Job summary

Heart to Heart Hospice is seeking an Executive Director to lead agency operations, ensure compliant clinical and business practices, and supervise management staff. The role requires a healthcare leadership background, strong communication, and executive presence in a fast-paced setting.

The position emphasizes budgeting, interdisciplinary care, and adherence to Medicare regulations while directing admissions and service delivery across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Licensed clinician or administrator with management or supervisory experience in health care settings.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with knowledge in hospice/healthcare operations and sales management.
  • At least 3 years of progressive operations leadership in healthcare; hospice preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct management personnel.
  • Understanding of business processes and Medicare Hospice benefits is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with executive presence.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ongoing auto liability coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and direct Agency operations, planning, budgeting, and progress toward goals.
  • Ensure interdisciplinary care and ethical clinical practice are maintained.
  • Direct staff in admissions, discharges, transfers, revocation, and services.
  • Hire and educate staff; conduct orientation, in-service, and performance evaluation.
  • Ensure staff supervision and availability of support services across service hours.
  • Maintain knowledge of community services and ensure compliance with hospice approvals.
  • Ensure operations comply with federal and state law and Medicare rules.
  • Manage conflict resolution and monitor budgeting and accounting for patient safety.
  • Evaluate programs, services, and personnel; perform other duties as required.

Executive Director
What You Must Have:
  • Be a licensed physician, RN, licensed social worker, licensed therapist, or licensed nursing home administrator with at least year of management or supervisor experience in a health-related setting, and an additional year of experience in a health related setting, such as stated under Experience; or have at least a high school diploma or a general equivalency degree with at least two years of management or supervisory experience in a health related setting, such as a home and community support services agency, hospital, nursing facility, hospice, outpatient rehabilitation center, psychiatric facility, or a licensed health care delivery setting providing services for individuals with functional disabilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and knowledge in hospice or healthcare operations and sales management
  • At least 3 years of progressive experience managing operations in healthcare, hospice preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct management personnel
  • Understanding of business processes and systems that support the healthcare industry
  • Experience in changing organizational processes to implement standard methods and practices
  • Must have an outstanding interpersonal, communication and presentation skills along with a strong executive presence
  • Knowledge of business management and a working knowledge of the Medicare Hospice Benefit preferred
  • Experience with EMR/Customer Relationship software is a plus
  • Current State Driver's License, reliable transportation and provide ongoing valid and current auto liability insurance

Essential Duties
  • Organize and direct Agency's ongoing functions, including operational and organizational planning, budgeting and monitoring progress toward operational and strategic goals
  • Ensure interdisciplinary care is provided while ethical business and clinical practice are maintained
  • Direct staff in performance of duties including admission, discharge, transfer, revocation and provision of services to patients
  • Employ qualified personnel and ensure adequate staff education and evaluation, including orientation, in-service, continuing education, competency testing and performance improvement.
  • Ensure appropriate staff supervision during all service hours and ensure support services are available to staff
  • Maintain knowledge of service systems in the community served by the agency and ensuring services provided are approved by the hospice
  • Ensure Agency operates in compliance with federal and state law
  • Manage conflict and complaint resolution
  • Implement and monitor effective budgeting and accounting system that promotes the health and safety of the agency's patients and monitors business operations to ensure financial stability
  • Evaluate program, services and personnel
  • Performance of other duties as required
  • Ensure overall compliance with local, state and federal laws, Medicare regulations, and established personnel policies and procedures
