State of Indiana is seeking an Executive Director for Serve Indiana, housed within the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. The Indiana Commission of Service & Volunteerism (Serve Indiana) is housed within the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. Serve Indiana mobilizes people and resources to deliver creative solutions to community problems. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing all agency division functions; leadership of a team to carry out Serve Indiana’s strategic objectives set by the Governor-appointed Commission, AmeriCorps programs, and the agency; as well as all grants, reports, and the division’s budget. Serve Indiana is part of the Business and Community Engagement team and the Executive Director plays a leadership role in cross-functional work within the team. Having a background in national service is an important asset when leading Serve Indiana because it provides a firsthand understanding of the power of service to strengthen communities, develop leaders, and create meaningful pathways for individuals to contribute to something larger than themselves. National service experience also provides a unique perspective on the role state service commissions play as connectors, conveners, and champions for service. Commissions sit at the intersection of state government, federal partners, nonprofit organizations, schools, communities, and individual volunteers and national service members. Having worked within the national service ecosystem allows a leader to understand these perspectives, build authentic relationships, and translate opportunities into meaningful action across the state of Indiana.
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $75,010.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
