Job summary

Cecil College is seeking a Dean of Arts & Sciences to lead and support instruction across English and Humanities, Communication, Math, Sciences, DAMD, Art, Music, GED/ABE, and related labs. The Dean provides strategic direction, oversees budgeting and staffing, and represents Arts & Sciences on the Vice-President’s staff.

The role requires in-person presence with telework possible per policy. Travel between Cecil College locations in North East, MD and Elkton, MD will be expected.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required; doctorate preferred.
• Post-secondary teaching experience required; a minimum of 2 years preferred.
• Minimum 2 years academic leadership experience; 5 years preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact with colleagues and the public.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; analytical mindset.

Responsibilities

• Oversee compliance with state, federal, and other regulations; recommend policies for Arts & Sciences and non-credit programs, including curriculum and scheduling.
• Demonstrate ability to build collaborative relationships and support student success initiatives.
• Provide oversight of Arts & Sciences program assessments and operating budgets; monitor expenditures.
• Lead day-to-day supervision and coaching of staff and faculty; ensure cross-training as needed.
• Supervise recruitment and hiring of staff and faculty; conduct performance evaluations.
• Participate in public relations and advisory boards; contribute to accreditation reporting.
