Knowledge and Skills
Five years of experience providing direct supervision of college-level instruction in transfer programs, including two years supervising the work of others is required. Demonstrated skills in the areas of communication, organization, and managing multiple priorities; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, community groups, industry partners and others; demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative team environment; display respect for social, cultural, spiritual, and intellectual pluralism

Working Conditions and Environment:
Most work is carried out in a standard heated an air-conditioned environment in a public area. Some evening and weekend work is required. Travel within the service area is required.

Position Description

Carteret Community College is accepting applications for a full-time, 12-month Dean of Arts & Sciences and Academic Success.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership and fulfill administrative, instructional, and management duties for the Arts & Sciences division for both Curriculum and Workforce Continuing Education programs

Duties include:

• Provide leadership, vision, planning, training opportunities, supervision and evaluation for all faculty and staff in the Arts & Sciences and Academic Support division.
• Assist in the onboarding and credentialing of faculty and adjunct instructors.
• Promote a safe environment conducive to learning and maintain high standards in all programs and classes, in accordance with academic policies and procedures.
• Oversee and participate in building institutional transfer relationships, including transfer days and fairs, transfer student advising, and reviewing and disseminating data related to transfer trends and success.
• Serve as liaison between faculty and staff and administration seeking to resolve faculty and staff conflicts.
• Provide leadership for Arts & Sciences curriculum and workforce development/self-supporting programs, including courses in the learning management system, in course development, scheduling, and classroom management.
• Assist faculty in establishing and executing student learning and program outcomes and assess related data for continuous improvement of student success.
• Establish and maintain advisory committees for each transfer degree to ensure academic programs address service area needs, current and forecasting for future needs.
• Oversee development and articulation for transfer CCP and degree advancement pathways.
• Ensure that specialized transfer programs have community engagement and visibility.
• Keep current on institutional accrediting agency compliance standards and coordinate implementation with Chairs and appropriate personnel.
• Participate in student grievance resolution ensuring due process for student disciplinary and appeal issues.
• Direct the development and administration of the Arts and Sciences budgets, including payroll and equipment needs.
• Support alternative funding opportunities such as grants, donations, and partnerships.
• Plan and deliver instruction according to the Faculty Workload Policy.
• Serves on College committees and task forces as assigned.
• Attend required campus events including graduation, professional development, & employee meetings.
