Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead hospital operations, steer physician relations, and enhance patient care across the organization. The COO will participate in strategic decisions, coordinate departments, and cover the CEO role in their absence.

Required is a Bachelor's in business or related field, with MBA/Healthcare Admin preferred, and at least 4 years in hospital management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in business or related field; MBA/Healthcare Admin preferred.
• Minimum 4 years in a managerial role at an acute care hospital.
• Experience running multiple hospital departments and physician relations/recruitment.
• Basic knowledge of hospital financial systems; problem solving and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead hospital operations and participate in operational decision-making to achieve the hospital's mission.
• Coordinate activities of assigned departments and sections; ensure alignment with strategic goals.
• Oversee physician relations and recruitment as part of hospital administration.
• Assume Chief Executive Officer duties in the CEO's absence.
