Job summary

ECU Health Behavioral Health Hospital in Greenville, North Carolina seeks an accomplished Chief Operating Officer to lead daily operations, strategic growth, and performance improvement across the behavioral health hospital. The COO will collaborate with the CEO, guide clinical and non-clinical operations, drive quality outcomes, physician partnerships, workforce engagement, and sustainable growth.

The role requires strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, financial management, and service

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Master's degree preferred in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Nursing, or related field.
• Minimum of five years of progressive healthcare leadership experience.
• Behavioral health hospital leadership experience preferred.
• Experience leading inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health service lines.
• Demonstrated success managing multidisciplinary teams, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement.
• Previous P&L responsibility and budget management experience.
• Experience driving growth, physician partnerships, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Oversee hospital operations to ensure safe, quality-driven, and cost-effective patient care.
• Lead operational performance initiatives across clinical and support departments.
• Partner with the CEO and executive team to develop and execute strategic objectives.
• Drive patient satisfaction, quality outcomes, workforce engagement, and operational efficiency.
• Foster a culture focused on accountability, teamwork, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
• Support physician recruitment, engagement, and clinical collaboration.
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, state, and organizational standards.
• Lead departmental leaders through recruitment, development, performance management, and succession planning.
• Assist in budget development, capital planning, and financial management activities.
• Analyze operational trends and implement initiatives to improve performance and growth.
• Serve as acting facility leader in the absence of the CEO.
