Job summary

Referment is seeking an attorney to advise on executive compensation and employee benefits within a global investment firm. You will join a small legal and compliance team supporting investment and commercial activities, including alternative strategies and new ventures.

You will structure, draft, and negotiate cash and equity arrangements, advise on benefits questions, and interpret complex regulatory requirements for business colleagues.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in executive compensation and benefits, private practice or in-house.
• Experience drafting executive-compensation arrangements for investment managers or financial-services firms.
• Excellent legal analysis, drafting, negotiation, communication and organisational skills.
• Strong commercial judgment with ability to give practical advice on complex matters.
• Meticulous handling of sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Advise stakeholders on the legal and commercial dimensions of executive compensation and employee-benefit matters.
• Draft, review, analyse, and negotiate cash and equity compensation arrangements.
• Support design and operation of employee-benefit plans and related agreements.
• Identify legal, regulatory, and documentation issues and explain practical consequences to non-specialists.
• Work across investment-management and other commercial activities balancing legal analysis with business judgment.
• Research and advise on adjacent legal questions arising from established operations or potential new initiatives.
• Manage sensitive personal and commercial information with confidentiality.
