Executive Communications Manager, AWS Specialist Partner Organization

We are seeking an experienced Executive Communications Manager to join the AWS Specialists and Partners (ASP) organization and work closely with ASP's Specialist Vice President, Go-to-Market to scale AWS's value proposition to our customers, partners, employees, and key stakeholders. The Executive Communications Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategic communications and engagement plans to enhance and promote the organization's vision and strategic goals to our internal and external audiences globally.

Foundational to success in this role is a deep passion for customer obsession, cutting-edge technology, and delivering results through effective communications. The chosen candidate will design messaging strategies that consider both proactive and reactive tactics based on active listening and customer and employee data and insights. They will identify high-value engagements that provide the optimal platform to reach our audiences and develop compelling, data-rich content to inform and inspire them. They will maintain a balance of proactive guidance and strategy with flawless delivery to become a trusted partner to the leadership team. They must have a strong track record of delivering results by producing high-quality, clear content, a demonstrated ability to earn and maintain trust across stakeholders, and insist on highest standards for quality, attention to detail while working on multiple projects simultaneously. The chosen candidate must be curious about new programs and initiatives impacting our customers, partners, and employees and possess the ability to ask the right questions. They need to have a bias for action and balance driving versus being directed. They must be comfortable taking risks and raising the bar for new, innovative ways of doing things.

This role requires 40% -50% global travel. You would be expected to travel with senior leadership up to two weeks per month.

Key job responsibilities
  1. This role is responsible for developing and implementing strategic messaging programs that resonate with technical audiences and line of business owners, promote engagement, and address customer needs with value-driven communications about AWS products and partner solutions.
  2. Create business and technical narratives to acquire and grow customers and partners.
  3. You coordinate end-to-end management of external engagements including industry, customer, and thought leadership events.
  4. Your high-caliber content sets quality benchmarks across AWS organizations, serving as a valued resource that elevates technical understanding enterprise-wide.
  5. Work directly with ASP Senior Leadership executives and serve as an integral part of ASP’s Strategic Communications team.
  6. You effectively engage with senior executives and industry thought leaders, driving adoption of Amazon's technology solutions and services.
  7. Prepare executives for internal and external speaking engagements to include the creation of content for global meetings focused on achieving business outcomes; internal communications via email or other channels; video script writing; and social media strategy, content creation and execution.
  8. Work closely with the AWS PR, Marketing, and Subject Matter Expert teams to align on communication strategies and messaging.
  9. Serve as writer to senior executives for global audiences, including driving the creation and delivery of compelling, executive-level message and presentation materials (slides, scripts, messaging documents, and customer stories, thought leadership).
  10. Leverage thought leadership programs and opportunities for ASP executives, to promote the business value that can be obtained by partnering with AWS.
  11. Apply superb organizational skills to the management of high-level speaking opportunities, both internally and externally, to highlight the value of partnering with AWS.
  12. Manage speaking engagement calendar with other team members to ensure alignment of key messages both internally and externally.
  13. Measure and share results of speaking engagements to evaluate impact.
  14. Conduct research and monitor industry trends and developments to identify opportunities for enhancing executive communications.
  15. Provide guidance and support to executives during high-pressure situations and ensure timely and accurate communication to relevant stakeholders.
  16. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills to work effectively with executives and stakeholders at all levels.
  17. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

- 7+ years of experience in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience supporting senior executives
- Experience working within the business-to-business technology sector
- Experience developing technical content for diverse, large-scale audiences
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field

- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to articulate a clear point of view on complicated issues in crisp, concise communications
- Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements
- Demonstrated experience building trust and influencing cross-functional teams and senior leaders
- Experience designing and executing joint marketing plans with strategic alliance partners with global footprint
- Experience driving cultural change and influencing organizations through communications, from audience and stakeholder analysis through implementation and success metrics tracking

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $120,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $199,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
