Job summary

Castaway in Burbank, CA seeks an Executive Chef to inspire the team, craft unforgettable dining experiences, and elevate upscale cuisine. You will lead kitchen operations, supervise Sous Chefs, and manage budgets, purchasing, and inventory with an eye for quality and cost control.

The role demands a proven track record in high-volume settings, strong culinary skills, and the ability to drive private events and catering success while maintaining exceptional standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years as an Executive Chef in upscale/high-volume settings.
• Experience managing annual revenue of at least $15M.
• 5+ years in BOH leadership in a high-volume restaurant/event center.
• Strong culinary skills and ability to create innovative dishes.
• Extensive experience in private events, banquets, and catering.
• Ability to manage food costs, inventory, and kitchen budgets.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Culinary degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise and evaluate Sous Chefs and culinary leadership staff.
• Set staffing, scheduling, and operational strategies.
• Make hiring, promotion, and disciplinary recommendations.
• Oversee purchasing, vendor coordination, and inventory management to maintain financial controls.
• Manage kitchen labor budgets and food costs to achieve financial goals.
• Oversee daily kitchen operations and ensure sanitation and quality standards.
• Provide leadership development and corrective action as needed.
• Oversee administrative kitchen functions including budgeting and reporting.
