The Role

Reporting to the Hotel General Manager, the Executive Chef will oversee the direction, preparation, and execution of all menu items, ensuring high standards of quality and service. Responsibilities include planning and pricing menus, ordering supplies, maintaining records, and ensuring equipment and facilities are in excellent condition.

The candidate must have excellent communication skills, conflict resolution abilities, and a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies. They will promote Bunkhouse’s culture, values, and reputation, embodying the company’s vision and core values in all actions and decisions.

Responsibilities will include:

  1. Collaborating with staff to develop recipes and menus, considering seasonal ingredients and customer volume.
  2. Planning, directing, and supervising food preparation, purchasing, and cooking activities across multiple kitchens or restaurants.
  3. Analyzing recipes for pricing based on costs.
  4. Inspecting supplies and equipment, arranging repairs or purchases as needed.
  5. Ensuring food quality and presentation standards.
  6. Monitoring sanitation practices and food safety regulations.
  7. Creating decorative food displays and presentation styles.
  8. Recording production and operational data.
  9. Meeting with clients for special event menus, if applicable.
  10. Negotiating with suppliers and managing inventory levels.
  11. Overseeing the receipt and inspection of supplies.
  12. Preparing and cooking food for various occasions.
  13. Hiring, training, and supervising kitchen staff.
  14. Demonstrating cooking techniques and maintaining team performance standards.
  15. Ensuring effective communication within the team and with other departments.
  16. Adhering to safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
  17. Participating in relevant meetings and ongoing training.

Experience Required

  • High School diploma or GED; culinary certification preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience.
  • Experience with inventory control and waste management.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
