Job Purpose

Under the direction of the General Manager, the Executive Chef oversees all kitchen operations, including staffing, training, inventory, ordering, and customer service. As a senior management team member, the Executive Chef provides leadership to the kitchen staff and maintains professional communication throughout the venue. The role requires maintaining culinary knowledge, trends, and local styles to elevate staff performance, develop Puttery recipes, and ensure excellent guest service while fostering the company culture.

The Executive Chef is expected to be present during operating hours, representing the venue and working collaboratively with staff to ensure exceptional service.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily culinary and operational activities
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to kitchen staff and team members
  • Plan and supervise food preparation and culinary operations
  • Estimate food requirements and manage food/labor costs within budgets
  • Supervise culinary team activities
  • Drive and uphold company culture
  • Recruit, hire, and manage culinary staff
  • Resolve staff and kitchen issues and complaints
  • Ensure all culinary products meet quality standards and safety regulations
  • Perform administrative duties such as payroll, inventory management, and scheduling
  • Promote training and growth initiatives
  • Maintain good relationships with vendors, departments, staff, and management
  • Create a respectful and collaborative work environment
  • Oversee culinary staff including Sous Chef, cooks, and dishwashers
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Qualifications and Skills

  • Work extended hours during busy periods
  • Operate computers and required applications proficiently
  • Manage inventory and procurement effectively
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong project management and delegation abilities
  • Adhere to nutrition, sanitation, and safety standards
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software
  • 3-5 years management experience in a complex leisure or entertainment setting
  • Prior experience as Executive Chef, Head Chef, or Sous Chef in high-volume operations ($8M+ annual revenue)
  • Proven success in managing food costs and labor
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all staff levels
  • Experience managing projects and supervising daily operations

Education

  • 4-year Bachelor's degree in Culinary Science or relevant field preferred
