Job summary

WesleyLife in Newton, IA seeks an Executive Chef to oversee daily culinary operations at Park Centre. The role focuses on fine dining quality, menu creation, purchasing, and large function banquet production within a compassionate aging-focused community.

You will lead a culinary team, collaborate with the CDM, and ensure high food standards while managing production, cost control, and event catering. This is a high-responsibility, mission-driven culinary leadership position.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years cooking experience in a fine dining setting.
• Culinary education preferred, or a combination of education and fine dining experience.
• Experience with menu creation, purchasing, cost control, and large function banquet production.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal service and determine amount and type of food and supplies for daily menus.
• Lead and collaborate with the CDM on activities and operational opportunities.
• Create, plan, and execute all catered and other special functions.
• Create all food purchases, production sheets, scheduling, and related material.
• Monitor food quality and quantity and take corrective action to maintain standards.
• Follow infection control techniques and sanitary practices in handling food and department maintenance.
• Control waste of resources to avoid over/under production and leftovers.

A Typical Day in the life of an Executive Chef at Park Centre:

• Assist with meal service and determination of amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus.
• Lead and collaborate with the CDM for all activities and divisional operational opportunities and problems.
• Responsible for creating, planning, and execution of all catered and other special functions.
• Responsible for the creation of all food purchases, production sheets, scheduling, and other related material.
• Monitor food quality and quantity and takes corrective action to ensure food and service standards are maintained in a timely manner.
• Follows infection control techniques in all work and practices. Utilizes sanitary work practices while handling food and for department maintenance.
• Responsible for waste control of resources (food, supplies, equipment and utilities) to avoid over and under production, preparation, waste and improper care and utilization of leftovers.
