Job summary

Chicago State University is seeking an Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences to assist the Dean in overseeing the College, managing personnel, finances and administration, and representing the unit when needed.

The role involves advancing visibility, effectiveness, and impact of the College, leading enrollment and graduation initiatives, promoting faculty development, and fostering partnerships with the community and external agencies.

Qualifications

• Doctorate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• Excellent teaching, scholarship and service record for tenure as Professor.
• At least five years of administrative experience in a university.
• Proven decision making, management and budgeting abilities.
• Experience in recruiting and retaining students and promoting student success.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Experience with assessment and accreditation.
• University-level teaching including graduate level.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates awareness of local, national and international trends in education to advance the College.
• Fosters a climate of research and innovation to impact educational outcomes.
• Leads enrollment, retention and graduation efforts across the college.
• Promotes professional development and innovation among faculty and staff.
• Sustains productive relationships with faculty, students, administrators, alumni and community.
• Assists engagement with government and professional agencies.
• Supports department chairs with data analysis for Program Review and Accreditation.
• Chairs committees and liaises with related colleges for teacher education programs.
• Assists the Dean with day-to-day responsibilities as needed.
