Job summary

CSUMB is seeking an Interim Associate Dean for the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. The role leads college-wide initiatives, oversees enrollment, curriculum development, and program assessment, and guides academic personnel processes in support of student success and institutional priorities.

The position requires a tenured professor with a Ph.D. and strong leadership, collaboration, and policy development skills to represent the Dean in diverse settings and to advance CSUMB’s

Qualifications

• Tenured professor in a discipline within the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
• Ph.D. or other terminal degree in a discipline represented within the College.
• Minimum of three years administrative experience as department chair, program coordinator, faculty associate or similar position.
• Rank of Full Professor.
• Commitment to transparency, collaboration, and improvement.
• Desire and ability to work independently and be self-directed in prioritization of tasks and initiatives.
• Technical fluency with Oracle/PeopleSoft, CSU CMS or equivalent SIS; MS Office and Google calendar tools.
• Aligned with CSUMB core values and vision: global awareness, interdisciplinary approaches, community relations, and technology in learning.
• Experience in strategic planning and policy development, advocacy, and management skills.

Responsibilities

• Supports the Dean in all aspects of college leadership and strategic planning.
• Leads enrollment management, budget considerations, curriculum review, and program quality initiatives.
• Oversees academic personnel processes including RTP reviews and supervision of department chairs.
• Directs student success efforts, advising, GE progress, and graduation initiatives.
• Represents the Dean on committees and maintains internal/external relations.
