Job description

The College of Indigenous Studies (CIS) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is seeking an organized, collaborative, and detail-oriented Executive Assistant to the Dean. This position provides high-level administrative support to the Dean and serves as a trained backup for faculty services processes in coordination with the Rural, Community and Native Education Faculty Services Administrator. Join a dynamic team dedicated to advancing Indigenous education and research in the Arctic.

This is a unique opportunity to play a central role in the College of Indigenous Studies at one of the nation's most distinctive universities. You will work directly alongside the Dean, serving as a trusted partner in shaping the college's day-to-day operations, communications, and events. You'll also build cross-training in faculty services processes, positioning you as a key backup resource that supports continuity for faculty personnel actions. You'll be part of a mission-driven community that centers Indigenous knowledge, culture, and community — and your work will have a direct impact on students, faculty, and the broader UAF community.

Successful candidates will bring experience supporting senior leadership in a complex organizational environment and a strong ability to manage confidential information with integrity. You should be comfortable juggling a fast-paced calendar, coordinating events and communications, and communicating proactively with a wide range of stakeholders. An interest in learning faculty affairs or HR-adjacent processes is a plus, as it will support your role as a backup resource for faculty services, but is not required at the time of hire.

Minimum Qualifications:

Three years college coursework and three years progressively responsible experience related to the program specialty, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
