Who we are
About the role

The Mayernick Group is hiring an Executive Assistant & Office Manager to keep a fast-moving government affairs firm running at full speed. You will work directly alongside the firm's principals as their trusted partner, with real ownership over how the firm operates day-to-day, as well as assisting the principals with personal projects to ensure the firm operates at the highest level.

The best person for this job thinks a step ahead. You notice what the day will demand before it arrives, you care about getting every detail exactly right, and you treat every open item as yours until it's closed. You will run the firm's calendar, compliance filings, communications, office, and Session logistics. When the Legislature is in Session, you are the person who keeps the principals, clients, and interns organized and on track.

Who we are

The Mayernick Group is a boutique government affairs firm where every member of the team is committed to the success of our clients. That means no task is too big or too small, and no one, from the principals on down, is above rolling up their sleeves to get it done.

We operate as a close-knit team. We pitch in wherever we're needed, cover for one another when things get hectic, and look out for each other along the way. For this role, that sometimes means helping the principals with personal matters, such as planning an event or running an errand. Not every task is glamorous, but every one of them makes a difference to the people counting on it.

What you'll own
  • Scheduling and logistics: Manage the firm's calendar, including meetings with legislators, agency staff, and clients, plus client itineraries and dinner reservations.
  • Firm operations: Run the weekly firm meeting, track deliverables and follow-ups, and turn client calls into clear action items.
  • Compliance: Handle lobbyist registrations, compensation reports, disclosure filings, and campaign contribution logistics.
  • Communications: Oversee the firm's newsletter, social media, and website.
  • Legislative Session: Recruit and manage interns and keep the office running smoothly through Session.
  • Office and events: Manage the office and host client and member events.
  • Principal support: Handle personal and business matters for the firm's principals with discretion.
Who you are

Experience can be taught. Independent judgment is harder to teach, and it's what we're hiring for. You won't be handed a checklist for every situation. We need someone who can figure out what needs to happen and make it happen.

  • You're a self-starter. You don't wait to be told what to do next. You look for what needs attention and take care of it.
  • You think critically. When something doesn't add up, you notice it, ask the right questions, and come back with a solution, not just the problem.
  • You own your work. Once something is on your plate, you see it through to the finish without reminders.
  • You're detail-oriented and organized. You take pride in getting things right the first time.
  • You communicate clearly and professionally, in writing and in person.
  • You stay composed under pressure and can manage competing priorities, especially during Session.
  • You're trustworthy with confidential information.
Need to have
  • Full-time, in-person availability. Legislative session is a busy time for the firm, and we need someone that will be available to be in the office during that time. The "off-season" is busy in a different way, and we need someone that can man the office, and keep it running as our team travels, plans for session, and coordinates activities across the state.
  • Transportation. You must have your own transportation and may occasionally need to provide transportation for out-of-town clients during the legislative session.
Nice to have
  • Office, administrative, or internship experience, especially at a law firm, lobbying firm, or in the Legislature.
  • Interest in Florida politics and the legislative process.
  • Experience with social media, Mailchimp, or website updates.
