Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Remote Excel Expert to join our team. In this role, you will be the go-to resource for all things Excel, responsible for creating, maintaining, and optimizing complex spreadsheets, developing sophisticated formulas and functions, automating tasks using macros (VBA), and generating insightful reports to support various departments across our organization. This is a fully remote position requiring a proactive, organized, and communicative individual with a deep understanding of Excel and its advanced capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Advanced Spreadsheet Development: Design and build complex and efficient Excel spreadsheets and workbooks to track, analyze, and report on various healthcare data, including patient information (de-identified), operational metrics, financial data, and more.
- Formula and Function Mastery: Develop and implement advanced Excel formulas and functions (e.g., SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, array formulas) to perform complex calculations, data manipulation, and analysis.
- Data Validation and Integrity: Implement robust data validation rules and techniques to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity within spreadsheets.
- Automation with VBA (Macros): Develop, implement, and maintain VBA macros to automate repetitive tasks, streamline workflows, and improve efficiency.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze large datasets within Excel, identify trends and patterns, and create clear, concise, and visually appealing reports and dashboards using charts, graphs, and conditional formatting.
- Template Creation and Standardization: Develop and maintain standardized Excel templates to ensure consistency in data collection and reporting across different departments.
- Data Import and Export: Efficiently import and export data from various sources (e.g., CSV, TXT, databases) into and out of Excel.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with various departments and stakeholders to understand their data needs, gather requirements, and provide Excel-based solutions.
- Troubleshooting and Support: Provide expert-level troubleshooting and support to end-users for Excel-related issues and questions.
- Documentation and Training (Occasional): Create clear and concise documentation for developed spreadsheets and macros, and potentially provide basic training to other employees on Excel best practices.
- Staying Current: Keep abreast of the latest Excel features, updates, and best practices.
- Data Security and Compliance: Adhere to all data security and privacy regulations, particularly concerning sensitive healthcare information, when working with Excel.
Qualifications:
- Work Permit/Citizenship: Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit allowing employment in the United States.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Finance, Data Analysis) is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as an Excel expert or in a role heavily reliant on advanced Excel skills.
- Expert-Level Excel Proficiency: Demonstrated mastery of Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, functions, charting, data validation, conditional formatting, pivot tables, and Power Query (Get & Transform Data).
- VBA (Macros) Proficiency: Proven ability to develop, implement, and troubleshoot VBA macros to automate tasks and enhance spreadsheet functionality.
- Data Analysis Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and generate meaningful insights.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all aspects of work.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple requests and prioritize tasks in a remote environment.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to independently identify and resolve complex Excel-related issues.
- Remote Work Capabilities: Must have a reliable internet connection and a dedicated home office setup suitable for remote work.
- Healthcare Industry Knowledge (Preferred): Familiarity with healthcare data and terminology is a plus but not required.
