Position Summary:

Primary Position Duties:

• Operate directional drills, mini-excavators, and other equipment to install underground (UG) plant facilities.
• Set up job equipment and reel trailers proficiently.
• Perform utility exposes (potholing) and understand the utility locate process.
• Locate other utilities as needed and maintain clearances from utilities, ground, road, highway, sidewalk, and non-pedestrian areas.
• Transport, handle, and place conduits (rolled and stick) properly.
• Transport and install fiber reels correctly.
• Install fiber cables in conduits following proper procedures.
• Set and secure pedestals and vaults accurately.
• Read and interpret network prints.
• Adhere to OSHA safety requirements to ensure safe and efficient job completion.
• Maintain regular communication throughout the workday.
• Follow directions from the crew leader.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Working Conditions:

• Primarily work in the field outdoors.
• Work in various weather conditions.
• Exposure to dust, temperature fluctuations, and high noise levels may occur.

Physical Requirements:

• Handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls with hands and fingers.
• Reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently stand, talk, and hear.

Travel:

• Travel to project sites in different states may be required to support new project start-ups.
• Travel may last up to 14 days.

Education or Skills:

• Experience operating directional drills is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Combination of technical training and relevant experience.
• Experience in construction preferred.
• Must meet physical requirements of the position.
• Flexibility to work nights and weekends if needed.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must pass drug, background, DOT, and MVR screenings.
