Job summary

Mercyhealth in Illinois is seeking an Environmental Services team member to clean and sanitize patient areas, support infection prevention standards, manage waste and chemicals, and prepare patient rooms and beds. You will follow safety protocols and maintain supplies and equipment to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for patients and staff.

You will participate in special cleaning projects, coordinate with departments for upcoming work, and ensure proper PPE use and chemical handling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with hospital cleaning and infection control standards is helpful.
• Familiarity with chemical handling and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Thorough cleaning of assigned areas including furniture, fixtures, and surfaces.
• Adhere to organizational policies and infection prevention standards.
• Maintain EVS closet, cart, and equipment in orderly condition.
• Replenish paper, soap, and hand sanitizer supplies.
• Assist with special cleaning projects and post informational signs.
• Use correct chemicals and PPE; follow safety and lifting procedures.
• Prepare patient rooms and beds; log bed status in the system when applicable.
• Adhere to waste handling, transport, and disposal guidelines.
