Hennepin Healthcare is an integrated system of care that includes HCMC, a Level I Adult Trauma Center and Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and acute care hospital, plus a clinic system with primary care clinics in Minneapolis and across Hennepin County. The system includes a 473-bed academic medical center, a large outpatient Clinic & Specialty Center, and a network of clinics in the North Loop, Whittier, and East Lake Street neighborhoods of Minneapolis, and in suburban communities. It operates a large psychiatric program, home care, a research institute, philanthropic foundation, and Hennepin EMS. Summary

We are currently seeking an EVS Operations Supervisor to join our Unit/team. This full-time/part-time role will primarily work on-site/remote/hybrid (SHIFT).

Purpose of this position: Provides direct leadership and guidance to staff to ensure high level of cleanliness, quality and service is achieved and maintained. Assist with CMS and other regulatory compliance initiatives.

$500 hiring incentive is available for eligible external candidates (current employees, contract/temporary workers, and former employees returning to HHS within one year are ineligible).

Responsibilities
  • Customer Relations: Monitor service binders in assigned areas on a daily basis taking appropriate action to alleviate concerns/comments
  • Respond to concerns and requests with a sense of urgency and take necessary corrective action when needed
  • Educates patients on services provided by Environmental Services; probes for concerns, needs, and impressions of service. Identify opportunities to improve patient services experience
  • Operation Excellence: Proactive approach to identifying and correcting facility quality assurance concerns; timely follow-up required. Work with nursing, EVS staff and management to enhance patient experience, resolve concerns, address special requests, and pilot or implement with senior management approval
  • Plan and coordinate project work to ensure proper frequencies are maintained
  • Ensures duty lists are revised and current at all times
  • Monitor daily equipment use, cleaning and maintenance
  • Participate in facility quality assurance program and ensure a high quality percentage of cleanliness in assigned areas; perform daily inspections
  • Handle or delegate special requests or projects as assigned
  • Ensure proper supply control and staff training in the safe and effective use of all chemicals
  • Ensure housekeeping office, storage and closets are clean and organized
People Management
  • Coach hourly staff; design group employee recognition and training programs, and provide one-on-one or small group training for hourly employees
  • Encourage staff creativity and innovation; assign staff to established work areas
  • Review duty lists with regular and relief staff; manage equipment assignments
  • Participate in staff selection and interviews; ensure proper orientation and training
  • Approve days off and vacations in accordance with staffing needs
  • Provide and monitor guidance and motivation; discipline when necessary via progressive discipline
  • Participate in performance evaluations and make recommendations as needed
Administration
  • Conduct in-service training for department employees; ensure compliance with hospital, housekeeping, and safety standards
  • Evaluate and update housekeeping standards and procedures; evaluate quality of services
  • Inspect all work areas, including those cleaned by contractors
  • Assist in evaluating and recommending equipment and supplies; assist in interviewing and evaluating employees
  • Prepare reports and maintain records; participate in special projects
  • Plan staff work schedules; perform duties of Operations Manager as necessary
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of two years related supervisory experience; OR five or more years\' experience in healthcare environmental services with two+ years demonstrated leadership, including knowledge of cleaning methods, products, and equipment
  • Or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two-year degree or higher in a relevant program
  • Current or past certification and membership in a housekeeping-related association
