Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead the sourcing, underwriting, due diligence, structuring, and execution of multifamily acquisitions.
• Build relationships with owners, investment sales brokers, lenders, institutional investors, family offices, and other capital partners.
• Work with senior leadership and investment committees to assess opportunities, risks, projected returns, financing, and exit strategies.
• Participate in raising equity for acquisitions, including investor presentations, due diligence, and capital partner negotiations.
• Oversee the transition of acquired properties into asset management and establish clear business plans for each investment.
• Direct portfolio strategy across asset management, capital improvements, refinancings, recapitalizations, and dispositions.
• Evaluate property and portfolio performance against underwriting, budgets, market conditions, and investor objectives.
• Lead and develop a team of multifamily investment professionals, while working closely with property management, finance, construction, and investor relations.
• Represent the platform with investors and partners, communicating investment performance, risks, and strategic priorities.

Macdonald & Company has been retained to recruit an EVP of Multifamily Acquisitions for an established national multifamily investment platform. The role is based in Dallas.

This executive will lead the firm’s acquisition strategy while overseeing investment performance across a substantial, geographically diverse portfolio. The role combines transaction leadership, capital partner relationships, portfolio strategy, and the management of an experienced multifamily team.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead the sourcing, underwriting, due diligence, structuring, and execution of multifamily acquisitions.
• Build relationships with owners, investment sales brokers, lenders, institutional investors, family offices, and other capital partners.
• Work with senior leadership and investment committees to assess opportunities, risks, projected returns, financing, and exit strategies.

Requirements:

• At least 15 years of progressive experience in multifamily real estate, including significant senior leadership responsibility.
• A demonstrated record of sourcing and executing acquisitions, alongside experience managing investments through their full life cycle.
• Strong relationships across the multifamily investment market, particularly with brokers, lenders, and equity partners.
• Deep knowledge of underwriting, valuation, capital structures, debt financing, and investment returns.
• Experience leading teams and overseeing a large portfolio across multiple markets.
• The ability to pair strategic investment judgment with hands-on knowledge of property operations and value creation.
• Executive presence and the communication skills to engage confidently with investors, capital partners, and internal leadership.
• Willingness to travel regularly across the portfolio.
