Job description

RETS Associates has been retained by a privately held, family-owned real estate investment/development company to identify a VP/SVP, Multifamily Asset Management to take ownership of its growing U.S. multifamily portfolio. The position can be based remotely in a major western U.S. market with strong airport access, with SEA, SF, LA, PHX and DFW of particular interest.

This is a unique opportunity to join a 50-year-old real estate investment/development platform with a sophisticated institutional investment program and deep, long-standing relationships with Japanese institutional capital partners and other well-known investment groups. The role will oversee actively managed multifamily investments spanning development, lease-up, stabilized and value-add strategies across the western U.S. and Texas (6 assets totaling 2,600 units). The successful candidate will be supported by an experienced 15-person corporate team while serving as the dedicated asset management lead for the multifamily portfolio, with the opportunity to add resources as the portfolio evolves. Current and recent investments include significant MF projects in SEA and PHX, with additional investments planned.

The VP/SVP will work closely with best-in-class 3rd party property management teams to drive property-level performance, execute business plans and create accountability around key operating metrics. The role will also include meaningful investor reporting, strategy discussions and property tours. Seeking candidates who combine institutional-quality financial and investment acumen with a hands-on operating mentality - equally comfortable in a financial model, an investor meeting and walking a property with the on-site team. High EQ, exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, low ego and sound judgment are essential.
