Job summary

GEO Reentry Services, LLC is seeking a Counselor to deliver evidence-based readiness and transition programming for a caseload of participants. You will assess clinical issues, set objectives, and document progress to meet contract standards.

You will conduct comprehensive assessments, lead individual and group sessions, and maintain timely clinical records, ensuring compliance with program requirements and company policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human services, Counseling, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or related field.
• Master's Degree preferred.
• Experience within a correctional setting preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact professionally in individual and group counseling.
• Ability to work with a team of professionals and implement team strategies.

Responsibilities

• Completes comprehensive assessment of inmates' substance abuse history and treatment requirements and develops an individualized treatment plan.
• Presents individual counseling and group lectures weekly on Relapse Prevention, Anger Management, Parenting, Life Skills, Criminal & Addictive Behaviors, and Co-occurring disorders.
• Facilitates psycho-educational/behavior modification groups using What Works system; documents attendance and progress.
• Conducts risk/need assessments and creates treatment plans for each participant; meets regularly with participants and documents progress.
• Maintains accurate clinical documentation including intake summaries, group notes, discharge summaries, and updates in the database.
• Ensures participant records are completed timely.
• Identifies barriers to completion and guides participants to overcome obstacles.
• May advise participants of progress regularly or at completion of treatment.
• May maintain a specific substance abuse treatment case file for every program participant.
• Utilizes crisis intervention techniques if an emergency arises.
• Utilizes conflict resolution strategies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
